Hi adventurers, welcome to Faraway Fable!

My name is Brooke, and my travel story starts back to my days as a toddler. As a little adventurer, my family booked a one-way trip to Germany – I was simply along for the adventure … after all, what else was a toddler to do? Little did I know that one flight would instill a love of travel that has led me to visit over a dozen countries, with a list of adventures to come. Now, it’s time to bring you along for the journey.

Faraway Fable all started with the motto along for the adventure, as that is where my travel journey began. Everyone can relate to that feeling, not knowing exactly what path you’ll take or which road you’ll follow, but being guided simply by the call to adventure and wonder that propels you forward.

When I moved to Germany I was so little, so I really had no choice but to tag along … and tag along I did. While living abroad, I built lasting memories through adventures throughout Europe. I think back to the adventure that truly made my family find our passion for travel, and it’s the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Hosted in the fall every year, the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland is a celebration of the arts, with street performers around every corner, plays in every theater of the city… a music lover and thespian’s paradise. As the adventures continued through weekend trips to the West End in London, hikes through gorges in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, trips through fairytale towns of Germany and more, I realized my sense of adventure would continue long after living abroad.  It’s adventures like these are so unique that make you realize what it is to travel and connect to cultures beyond the typical tourist’s view. And these are the exact experiences I hope to share with Faraway Fable.

For fellow travelers and adventure seekers, Faraway Fable is a storytelling center that provides unique glances into some of the top travel destinations around the globe through the lens of local perspectives, foodie’s guides, and pop-culture influences. Faraway Fable strives to be adventurous, authentic, and inspiring. The hope is that through our social media posts and blogs, you will leave feeling as though you’ve rekindled, or perhaps found, your sense of adventure, inspired to take the next step in experiencing the wonders of international travel. The stories shared are from personal experiences of myself and others, providing an unfiltered lens at some of my favorite destinations. But most of all, Faraway Fable is about community, creating a place where travelers can share their stories, ask travel questions, and grow in their confidence to start their next adventure.

But you may be asking yourself, “Brooke, what makes Faraway Fable unique?” Well, I’m glad you asked. Faraway Fable is for the foodies, the new adventurers, the pop-culture lovers, and the seasoned travelers. I started out along for the adventure, and perhaps you may feel the same. When traveling for the first time, there can be uncertainty about the unknowns of your adventure, with aspects such as planning your itinerary, finding the hidden gems, knowing what to pack, etc. becoming overwhelming. Well, that’s exactly why we’re here. For adventurers old and new, Faraway Fable seeks to provide a space to refresh the travel basics, provide guides for your next adventure, and build a community of travelers to lean upon.

One of my favorite parts about Faraway Fable is its focus on pop-culture adventures. Growing up fascinated by musicals, movies, and all things pop-culture, I loved going to find filming locations and new venues to experience. Admittedly, I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and aren’t we all? So of course, on trips to London my family embraced the wizarding world and toured locations such as the Warner Brothers Studio Tour to see the movie sets come to life right before our eyes. And those are the exact adventures that I hope to highlight in the pop-culture section. If you find yourself also fascinated by the musical scene of new destinations, movie and tv guides, and festivals, this is the space for you.

Now the foodie’s guides! When I start planning my next adventure, the foods I want to try are always the first items to make it to the trip itinerary. (More than a decade later, I still think about the first Bavarian pretzel I had in Germany – If you know, you know). Food is engrained with my travel memories, and through the foodie’s guide blogs, travelers will be able to follow along with some of my favorite dishes, dining experiences, and hidden-gem restaurants.

Whatever adventure category you fit into, it’s time to share my experiences with you. From hiking the Diamond Head volcano in Hawaii to traveling the Golden Circle in Iceland, dancing through the Pink Pop music festival in the Netherlands to sailing along the Rhine River, join me as I continue following my spirit of adventure, one post at a time.
